When I add a link for Google Maps to my event, the links is shortened drastically.

The link I try to use being something like: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=N.+37th+%26+Vassault,+Tacoma,+Washington+98407&spn=0.028598,0.058545&hl=en

However after the event is saved, the HTML is shortened to: http://maps.google.com/maps?q

I've tried to manually change this in the HTML editor (I am using MYCE), and also even straight HTML without any editors.

I've played with the settings, but nothing seems to be able to overcome this.

You would need to disable XSS Protection for these types of links to work.

How important is the XSS Protection? My site got hijacked before, and I am pretty sure it was due to the security bug in version 5.x. I am currently running 6.0.

That feature checks the event titles and descriptions for XXS. As long as a trusted source is entering events, you should not need to worry about this.
